A homecare company is launching a major recruitment drive after winning a contract to provide care to people living in supported living schemes.

Caremark Redcar and Cleveland is seeking to create up to 50 new jobs over the next three months.

This is after being awarded a contract to provide the care at four supported living schemes – The Gables in Redcar, Thirlmere in Normanby, New Road in Guisborough and Norwood in Saltburn.

The four schemes were the first to be put up for tender for suppliers on Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s Supported Living Framework.

Caremark Redcar and Cleveland has now begun delivering care to the 23 people living in the schemes.

Residents in these schemes have a range of support needs ranging from low level to highly complex, in areas such as mental health, learning disabilities and physical disabilities. In a few cases, people will only need a few hours of care and support week, but in others it will involve 24-hour support.

In total, this will increase the number of care hours Caremark Redcar and Cleveland provides each week by more than 1,000.

Along with the growth of its existing homecare business, and as a result of initiatives such as its dog therapy service and weekly community-based ‘Safe Place’ initiative, it means the company is now launching a new recruitment drive to attract more carers.

Michelle Jackson, Caremark Redcar and Cleveland Managing Director, said: “We are pleased to have won this contract to provide the care which will enable people in our communities to remain living independently as possible with support from our team of carers.

“It’s a fantastic boost for the company and we are now seeking to recruit more people to help us continue delivering the increasing range of services we offer across Redcar and Cleveland.

“People who currently work at the four supported housing schemes will be transferring to Caremark, so we are delighted to be welcoming them to the team.

“It’s been a fantastic year for the company with so many good things happening, and we are hoping this will encourage even more people to apply to work for us.”

Full and part-time roles are available, and this includes contracted work. Whilst previous care experience would be an advantage, it is not essential as full training can be given.

Access to a car is also preferable but again not essential if people live close to the areas in which they will work. Call 01287 634706 or email redcar@caremark.co.uk.
