Motorists are continuing to be hit with rising fuel prices at petrol stations across the region.

Prices have increased by up to 3p per litre at some of the forecourts lists below in the last week, although they remain the cheapest to fill up at.

The wholesale price of petrol rose 6p a litre from 19 July on the back of the rising cost of oil with retailers wasting no time in passing this on to drivers as the average price has increased by nearly 2p, the RAC said.

The average cost of buying a litre of unleaded is currently 151.19p, according to the RAC, while the average price of a litre of diesel stands at 153.19p and is expected to rise further.

Earlier this month the RAC warned further price rises could be on the cards after the wholesale cost of a barrel of oil went up.

Many motorists will be topping up the tank this bank holiday weekend with more than 14million leisure trips set to be made across the country, according to predictions.

  • BP Meadowfield – unleaded: 149.0p, diesel: 151.9p
  • SHELL Stonebridge A690 – unleaded: 149.9p, diesel: 153.9p
