A suspected drug dealer has been arrested after a large quantity of drug parcels were intercepted from the United States.

Officers from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) raided a house in Darlington after they received intelligence relating to drug importation from America.

A search of the property recovered a substantial amount of drugs and paraphernalia, including large quantities of what is believed to be Cocaine, MDMA, Cannabis products and Psilocybin - more commonly known as mushrooms.

As a result of the search, officer also recovered a substantial amount of cash and a 22-year-old was arrested inside the property.

A Darlington man was subsequently charged with importation of Class B drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs and money laundering.

Speaking about the arrest, Sergeant Neil Lovat, from NEROCU’s Disruption Team, said: “This activity is part of our ongoing commitment to tackle drug importation, supply, and distribution in our region.

  • Aidan Sayers, 22, Chaldron Court, Darlington, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court today (Friday) where he was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on September 22.
