I WELCOME the two correspondents’ responses (HAS, June 3) to my letter “Unbiased letters” (HAS, June 1) which encompassed among other things reasoned unblinkered and unbiased attitudes. The correspondents, though, felt that would lead to a very boring state of affairs.
My letter seems to have negated their argument as they felt a strong enough urge to put pen to paper but they seemed to have missed my point completely in that blinkered and biased attitudes fail or refuse to see the other side of the argument.
There is a case of being a devil’s advocate which if nothing else, opens the mind although you don’t have to go agree with the argument.
