THE Tees Valley Mayor never seemed like the ego-free type, so it wasn’t a total shocker he has just finalised plans to buy a £40m airport.
Not everyone is convinced, not least the leaders of the five Tees Valley councils who it is basically a money-losing vanity project (Echo, Dec 4).
The mayor does talk about the need to take risks.
I’m sorry but the Tees Valley cannot afford to be risk takers and this project is too much of a risk.
The Tories have stripped enough money from this area and the last thing we want is another Conservative stripping even more.
