A GOVERNMENT-appointed planning inspector has endorsed the Stockton-on-Tees Local Plan ahead of it going before councillors for formal adoption this month.

Matthew Birkinshaw BA (Hons) MSc MRTPI says that, subject to some modifications he has recommended, the plan is “sound, legally compliant and capable of adoption”.

The plan sets out a vision for the future development of the Borough in relation to housing, the economy, transport, community facilities and infrastructure up to 2032.

At its meeting today, the Council’s Cabinet will be asked to recommend to Full Council that the Local Plan is adopted.

And if that is agreed by Cabinet, the document will then be considered for formal adoption at the Full Council meeting on Wednesday, January 30.

The draft Local Plan document can be found here and is supported by this Policies Map and insets which detail the location of developments.
