A DRAFT masterplan for a major Middlesbrough housing development is set to get the green light next week.

The Stainsby scheme in west Middlesbrough was allocated for housing in the Local Plan adopted by the Council in 2014.

A detailed Draft Masterplan has been drawn up and will be considered at an executive meeting in Middlesbrough Town Hall on Wednesday, January 23.

Councillor Lewis Young, the council’s executive member for economic development and infrastructure, will present the report. He said: “Good quality, modern housing is essential if we are to stem Middlesbrough’s long-term population decline.

“An approved masterplan gives us and the local community a considerable degree of control over what is developed and where, ensuring developments of the highest possible quality.

“The Stainsby Draft Masterplan has been drawn up with considerable input from the local community and I’m grateful to them for their invaluable contribution.”
