CELEBRITY gardener Alan Titchmarsh has officially opened the RHS Garden Harlow Carr Flower Show 2019.
The popular TV gardener made famous by BBC's Ground Force in the 1990s pretended to cut a giant three-tiered floral birthday cake with a chainsaw to mark 70 years of the garden at its annual flower show in Harrogate on Friday.
Mr Titchmarsh has also recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
The popular three-day show, now in its fourth year, will run from June 21 to 23.
Mr Titchmarsh, RHS Ambassador and Vice-President, gave a talk about his life in horticulture and put the final touches to a floral cake to open the show.
He said: “Harlow Carr has been special to me since the 1960s when I first visited it as a gardening apprentice. It has always occupied a special place in my heart as a garden close to where I grew up. I’m thrilled to be sharing a birthday with one of the country’s finest gardens.”
