A PARTNERSHIP between a country estate and a prestigious shooting school has been announced in North Yorkshire.

The Swinton Estate has partnered with Buckinghamshire-based shooting school and renowned gunmaker, EJ Churchill, to create the EJ Churchill Shooting Ground at Swinton Estate.

This will be EJ Churchill’s first venture outside of their multi award-winning shooting ground at High Wycombe.

Set to open in 2020, it will include a programme of works to upgrade the existing facilities at Warren Gill, which was originally set up as a shooting school in 2003 by Dave and Anne Elgie. The Elgies, together with their son Ross, a national Olympic Skeet competitor, will continue their involvement with EJ Churchill at Swinton Estate.

Commenting on the partnership, Mark Cunliffe-Lister, proprietor of the Swinton Estate said, “This is an exciting opportunity to invest in the future of the shooting ground on the estate. All the achievements of the Elgie family over their last 16 years of operation are now being combined with our partnership with EJ Churchill, who have a proven track record of success and a reputation for excellence worldwide.”

Rob Fenwick, managing director of EJ Churchill, said: ”We are delighted to be coming to the stunning Swinton Estate. Warren Gill could be one the finest facilities of its kind in the country.”
