Middlesbrough drug dealer caught red-handed by police

Reece Mohammed was carrying up to £4,700 worth of crack cocaine when he was spotted handing over a package to a woman in Middlesbrough.

The 19-year-old tried to flee on his motorbike but the officers managed to successfully detain him, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Charlie Thompson, prosecuting, said the defendant was spotted dealing on Evergreen Walk, Middlesbrough just seconds before his arrest.

He said: “He was seen exchanging something with a female then stopped while he was speaking on his phone.

“The defendant noticed the officers and gestured for them to wait. The officer got out of the car, took hold of the defendant and arrested him.

“He made an attempt to ride away but was detained and a large quantity of crack cocaine was seized.”

Mr Thompson said officers recovered 235 grip seal bags containing the drug worth up £4,700 and a further 28 grammes of heroin was recovered along a set of weighing scales.

At the police station, officers recovered two mobile phones and some cash totalling £1,385.

A search of his home address resulted in the discovery of more cash, a roll of clear plastic bags, another mobile phone and a bag of white powder.

Mohammed, of Ridley Avenue, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin and possession of criminal property.

Nicci Horton, mitigating, said her client told her that his role was to take a delivery of street-prepared drugs and drop them off to the street dealer before taking the cash to give to the higher-up person.

Recorder Aisha Wadoodi sentenced the teenager to a total of 31 months for all charges.
