The trial of an elderly couple accused of defrauding a woman has been delayed by more than a year.
Anne and John King are accused of using the victim’s bank card at a number of locations throughout Darlington and County Durham over a nearly three-year period.
They are both charged with theft between January 1, 2018, and November 10, 2020, at various locations in Darlington and County Durham, where they stole multiple amounts of money using the victim's bank card of an unknown value.
Mrs King, 74, and her 76-year-old husband both deny the charge, and their trial was due to start at Teesside Crown Court yesterday (Monday, August 4).

Recorder Aisha Wadoodi apologised to the couple for the unexpected change in circumstances, which resulted in the trial being rescheduled.
“I’m sorry that your case cannot go ahead today,” she said. “It is going to be listed, I know it seems a long way away, on October 5, 2026.
“Please stay in touch with your solicitors or barristers, and they will keep you updated.”
The Kings, of The Green, Brafferton, near Darlington, were released on bail until the date of their trial on October 5 next year.
