Car crashes into wall on Stockton Road, Hartlepool

A car ploughed into a wall reducing it to rubble after a smash with another car.

Police and paramedics rushed to Stockton Road in Hartlepool just after 10.50am on the morning of Monday, March 3.

Two cars had crashed and the driver of one is believed to have fled the scene without stopping.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, a black Ford seen to have mounted the wall, were treated by paramedics at the scene and are not believed to be injured.

Pictures show bricks scattered across the pavement with several emergency crews in attendance.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 11am on Monday 3 March police received reports of a two-vehicle collision on Stockton Road in Hartlepool.

“One of the vehicles had collided with a wall. The driver of one of the vehicles is believed to have failed to stop at the scene. The driver and occupant of the other vehicle are not believed to have sustained any injuries.

“Anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or by visiting the website quoting reference number 037154.”

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a two vehicle road traffic incident on Stockton Road, Hartlepool at 10.52am this morning. We dispatched a rapid response paramedic and two patients were checked over and discharged at the scene."
