Planning permission for a 41-house estate has been approved in County Durham after the council passed proposals earlier this week.

The approval will now see the 41 houses built in Trimdon Village, following the acquisition of the 7.5 acres of land in September 2023.

Brought forward by Esh Group’s private housebuilding division, Homes by Esh, the Bluebell Gardens development features a mix of three- and four-bedroom detached homes and two-bedroom terraced bungalows.

Nine house types are available across the site, with Esh saying that potential homeowners will have energy-efficient features, including electric vehicle charging points, solar photovoltaic panels, smart technology and secure bike storage.

Homes by Esh’s Technical Director, Dale Morris, said: “The Bluebell Gardens planning approval allows us to expand our live sites across County Durham after making good progress on multiple sites in Darlington in the early part of 2024. We have implemented vast open space areas through well worked landscaping designs to help create an open and community ‘green feel’ to the development.”

The development, which is adjacent to Salters Lane in Trimdon Village, is close to the A1 and A19.

Elsewhere across the region, Homes by Esh is also taking on other projects to build housing estates.

West Park Garden Village is the largest on the outskirts of Darlington, where more than 400 new homes are being built.

Two other developments are also underway in Darlington with Elder Brook Park and Hurworth Meadows seeing demand from homeowners, while Homes by Esh’s collection of four-, five- and six-bedroom properties will go on the market at Havelock Park, near Blackwell, later this year.

A further 75 three and four-bedroom properties are being delivered at Mount Park in Springwell Village, Gateshead.

Homes at Bluebell Gardens are expected to go on sale later in June this year.
