Police have made three arrests for attempted murder after a second firearms incident in a North East town.

Yesterday (April 6), officers were at a number of properties in the Grangetown area after an incident on Wilton Way, Eston.

Three men aged 29, 28 and 26, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to police custody where they will be questioned.

Eight people were arrested on April 5 in connection with a connected firearms incident at a house on Richmond Court in Grangetown on Easter Monday, April 1.

One of these, a 17-year-old male, has been charged with criminal damage. The others have been bailed pending further enquiries.

These incidents are believed to have been targeted attacks and  there should not be any wider threat to the community at this time.

Residents in these areas can expect to see a continued police presence, with officers granted authority for additional stop and search powers for the next 24 hours.
