Nine motorists have been named and fined in court after being caught speeding in County Durham and Darlington.

The cases were heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court in the last week. 

Eric Scott, 51 of Brackenrigg, Consett, was driving a Ford on September 4 last year when he was caught exceeding the 30mph limit on the B6309 Watling Street, Leadgate. 

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £297. Driving record endorsed with 3 points.

Vanessa Flounders, 42, of Christchurch Place, Peterlee, was caught exceeding the 30mph speed limit on September 6, 2023, while driving a Volkswagen on the C151 Stockton Road in Easington Village.

She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £706. Driving record endorsed with 4 points.

Jeanette Maughan, 51, of Hardisty Crescent, Bishop Auckland, was caught exceeding the 30 mph limit, while driving a Seat on the A68 High Etherley on September 9 2023.

She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £741. Driving record endorsed with 6 points.

Michael Harmston, 47, of Maslin Grove, Peterlee, was caught exceeding 30 mph speed limit on September 6, 2023, while driving a Peugeot on Stockton Road, Easington Village.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £741. Driving record endorsed with 6 points.

Brianne Robinson, 23, of Tuscan Road, Sunderland,  was caught exceeding the 50 mph speed limit on the A690 in West Rainton while driving a Vauxhall on September 4 2023.

The case was found proved and a fine and costs of £398 was imposed, along with 3 points. 

Michelle Elliot, 43, of Olive Street, Waldridge, Chester-le-Street, was caught exceeding the 30mph speed limit on September 4, 2023, while driving an Audi on the C18 Station Road.

The case was found proved and she was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £398. Driving record endorsed with 3 points.

Oliver William Case, 20, of Clarence Drive, Darlington, was caught exceeding the 30 mph limit on Geneva Road, Darlington, while driving a BMW on September 5 2023.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £545. Driving record endorsed with 6 points.

John Charlton, 36, of Sandringham Crescent, Horden, Peterlee, was caught exceeding the 30 mph limit on the B1283 Hall Walks, Easington Village, on September 6 2023, while driving a Volkswagen.

He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine and costs of £146.  Driving record endorsed with 3 points.
