A hairdresser voted one of Darlington's favourites by Northern Echo readers earlier this month, is set to open up a brand new hair salon in Darlington.

With years of hairdressing experience and an already well-established customer base Jodie, who has previously worked in Cockerton’s Talking Heads salon and ECO Hair Salon on Duke Street, is embarking on a new journey and has opened her very own salon in Haughton, above No 58 The Green.

Jodie moved into her new premises on Good Friday (March, 29), and business has been brilliant so far.

Speaking about her decision to move into her own premises,  Jodie said: “I wanted to create somewhere more personal, where there could be a more one-to-one setting.

“This just feels right, this is the right setting and the right place for myself, my family and my clients.”

Jodie first announced that she would be opening her new salon on March, 21 in a Facebook post, which has since garnered immense support from her friends and followers.

As a military wife, Jodie has had to move around the country but has lived in the North East for nearly 7 years, making her part of the furniture. Jodie credits her career as a hairdresser as beneficial to her settling into the area and helping her make friends and build connections with others.

Jodie told the Echo that it was a quick turnover to get her new salon together and a lot of decorating, but after a lot of hard work from her friends, family and husband James, the salon is now ready to welcome all her clients.

Working hard over the years to build her clientele, Jodie has had a few of her clients in the salon already, who have all appreciated the new set-up and Jodie is looking forward to getting back in the salon after the Easter Weekend on Tuesday, April 2.

“I’ve had some amazing feedback, I’m so lucky, lots of flowers, chocolates and cards.”

As a mum of two, Jodie hopes her new business venture will make it easier to continue to support working mums and other military wives, who may find it more difficult to arrange childcare to attend a hairdressing appointment.
