A Stockton road has been closed after a woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

The incident took place at roughly 1am today (February 11) on the A1305, Prince Regent Street, near the KFC.

There is a full road closure in place while investigations are carried out and the public are being urged to avoid the area.

The police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "A road is closed in Stockton following a collision involving a single vehicle, believed to be a taxi, and a pedestrian.

"The incident happened shortly after 1am on Sunday 11 February 2024 on Prince Regent Street, the A1305, between Bishopton Lane and Dovecot Street near to KFC.

There is a full road closure and members of the public are urged to avoid the area.
