Two men have been arrested as part of a murder inquiry following the ‘hit-and-run’ death of 60-year-old man late on Friday evening.

Emergency services were called to Ingleby Barwick, near Stockton, just before 11.35pm when a white Citroen Berlingo van appears to have been intentionally driven towards a group of people on a footpath.

The driver left the scene, Myton Way at the junction with The Rings, prior to the arrival of police and the van which officers believe was used in the incident was abandoned nearby.

Two men, aged 29 and 66, both from Ingleby Barwick, have been arrested in connection with the incident and both remain in custody at this time.
