A woman has been hospitalised and another arrested after a car smashed into a home in Darlington early this morning.
Shortly before 12.40am this morning, a grey Audi crashed into a block of flats on Brankin Road.
Pictures emerged of the vehicle show that it was extremely damaged following the collision.
Multiple doors were cut off the car by the fire service to free those inside.
One woman, in her mid-20s, was rushed to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment.
She remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Another woman in her mid-20s has been arrested on suspicion of several offences including aggravated TWOC, driving while unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 12.40am this morning, an Audi car crashed into a block of flats at Brankin Road, in Darlington.
"A passenger in the vehicle, a woman in her mid-20s, was transported to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment to suspected fractured ribs and internal injuries. She remains in hospital this afternoon in a stable condition.
"Another woman in her mid-20s was arrested on suspicion of several offences, including aggravated TWOC, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and causing serious injury through dangerous driving."
Eyewitnesses described people being evacuated from the block of flats after the car crashed into the building.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson previously said: "We received a call at 12.38am this morning (Friday 2 February) to reports of a road traffic incident on Brankin Road in Darlington.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene. One patient was then transported to The James Cook University Hospital for further treatment."

A spokesperson from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) confirmed they were at the scene for just over an hour.
They said: "At 12.50am today (Friday), we were alerted to a report of a road traffic collision on Brankin Road, Darlington.
"Crews attended to assist with a rescue from a vehicle and left the scene shortly after 2am."
