A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery on Norton High Street.
Cleveland Police officers were called to the scene at Betfred at about 7.20pm.
A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of robbery as well as attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to a separate incident.
He remains in police custody at the time.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Norton High Street at around 7.20pm on Tuesday evening (January 2) following reports of a robbery.
"A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery as well as attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to a separate incident.
"He remains in police custody at this time."
An employee at Ladbrokes, down the road from Betfred where the incident took place, explained that there had been a large police presence.
She said: "I didn't see anything of the incident itself but there were a lot of police here.
