Northern Powergrid has noted the postcodes that have lost power through strong rain caused by Storm Gerrit. 

The company has confirmed that hundreds of homes across parts of the region are expected to be affected by the switch-off today (Thursday).

High winds, heavy rain and snow damaged electricity networks in some parts of the country while a Met Office yellow weather warning was in force throughout Wednesday (December 27).

Today (December 28), Northern Powergrid confirmed that some houses had lost power and it was working to reconnect them as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said: "Our teams are prepared to respond as quickly and safely as possible if Storm Gerrit impacts our electricity network.

"Supporting you is our priority. Please log your power cut so we can update you as we safely progress with our repairs. if you provide a mobile phone number, we will send you text message updates during your power cut. Our website can also provide you with the most up-to-date restoration times.

"If you are in a dangerous situation, there is risk to life, or you are medically dependent on electricity, please call us on 105. Supporting customers who really need us is our priority, so if you can report your power cut online, it will allow us to speak more quickly to those customers needing extra support or assistance."

In the North East and North Yorkshire, the following postcodes will see power restored by 6pm after some homes will be cut off at around 6.30am:

  • NE38 7DN
  • NE38 7DS
  • NE38 7DR
  • NE38 7DG
  • NE38 7DT
  • NE38 7ED
  • NE38 7DL
  • NE38 7DW

In the North East and North Yorkshire, the following postcodes will see power restored by 3pm after some homes will be cut off at around 8.30am:

  • NE15

In the North East and North Yorkshire, the following postcodes will see power restored by 3pm after some homes will be cut off at around 8.30am:

  • DL5

In the North East and North Yorkshire, the following postcodes will see power restored by 2pm after some homes will be cut off at around 10am:
