A venue encompassing a classic arcade, virtual reality centre and dessert restaurant will be opening in County Durham after the owners behind another popular North East venue released details.

YuMe World, which promises 'fun and entertainment for all', already has a venue at The Gate in Newcastle - but has now set plans in motion to bring a place to Durham City's Riverwalk.

The venue, which has claw machines, driving simulators, interactive machines and virtual reality simulators, will open in Durham in 2024.

So now that the venue has committed to opening - what should you expect?

Posting to its social media site over the weekend, YuMe World said: "Get ready, Durham! We're thrilled to announce the grand opening of YuMe World's brand-new location in early 2024! Brace yourselves for a world of non-stop fun and excitement featuring cutting-edge arcade games.

"But that's not all! Indulge your taste buds at our YuMe Desserts restaurant, where sweet dreams come true!

"Stay tuned for updates, sneak peeks, and the official opening date. Durham, are you ready to level up your entertainment experience?"

A spokesperson for YuMe World added: "Whether you want to race like a Formula 1 driver, triumph in a zombie showdown or lose yourself in the world of virtual reality, our premium games and entertainment centres. At YuMe World, your dreams can become a reality."

Alongside the normal services, YuMe World can be hired for birthday parties, is an accessible venue, and will have cashless services throughout.

And people in Durham can expect rave reviews if the Newcastle facility is anything to by.

Averaging a 4.8/5 star review on Google, people have praised the venue at The Gate by saying: "Staff are great. The VR was awesome - it's a good place to visit," while another added: "A great family day out. We love it here and the staff are great."
