A humble post box overlooking a row of shops in Darlington has been transformed with a series of brightly coloured 'toppers' thrughout 2023.
The ever-changing designs on the top of the post box, in the Mowden area of town, have kept shoppers amused all year.
And they have been captured in a series of stunning images by photographer Peter Reimann, who has documented the woollen wonders.
The knitters have taken inspiration from a variety of themes - the Coronation of King Charles III, Remembrance Sunday, Easter and Halloween have all featured.
One of the year's earlier efforts had a man on one knee, perhaps asking 'wool you marry me?' to his beautiful intended bride for a Valentine's Day special.
Paddington Bear made an appearance in the World Book Day topper and schools were celebrated on World Teachers Day.
Bees were prominent in one of the more eye-catching efforts and a family donned bathing costumes for a day at the beach - despite the less than clement weather at the time.
An accomplished nativity scene rounded off the year in wool as Darlington prepared for the festive season.
The identity of the post box knitter, or knitters, remains a mystery, but their talent is undoubted - and hopefully, there'll be many more to come in 2024.
