A North East woman is celebrating just before Christmas after landing a £1m jackpot on the National Lottery.

The lucky winner, who is known only as Miss T from Tyne and Wear, scooped the prize through the National Lottery app during a EuroMillions draw.

The win comes just in time for the festive period, with draw operators Camelot revealing she now plans to treat her family and "make it a lovely Christmas for everyone".

This particular win came after Miss T had taken part in the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker draw on November 7 and interactive winners can choose whether to release their name, remain anonymous or - as this winner did - to release some details through 'partial publicity'.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “Huge congratulations for Miss T for winning this fantastic prize and becoming a millionaire overnight. I hope the money can help make Christmas extra special this year for Miss T and her family.”

Camelot says Miss T is one of more than eight million players a week winning on its The National Lottery’s range of games.

For every EuroMillions line played, UK players automatically receive a Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket, with a millionaire created in every draw.

Players can buy tickets in retail outlets, play online at national-lottery.co.uk or by downloading the National Lottery app. Playing online via the website or app means that your ticket is automatically checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize.
