With winter well and truly here the warmth of a cosy pub has never been a more inviting proposition.

We asked you, The Northern Echo’s readers, which are the cosiest pubs to grab a drink and Christmas dinner this festive season. Here are four pubs you suggested:

The Old Mill, Metal Bridge, County Durham

Former paper mill in Metal Bridge, The Old Mill is a pub with rooms, and they’re currently serving a traditional turkey roast.

The pub has an impressive 4.6 star rating on Google and won a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award for 2023.

The Jolly Drovers, Leadgate, Consett, County Durham

The Jolly Drovers is now offering turkey on its Sunday carvery and has a host of festive events including Breakfast and Christmas Tea with Santa on in the run up to Christmas.

The pub has a 4.5 rating from almost 1,900 reviews on Google.

The Black Horse Inn, Tudhoe, County Durham

Now decked out with Christmas decorations the Black Horse is a traditional pub with a relaxed atmosphere, sitting just off Tudhoe Front Street.
