A popular chain of authentic pizzerias is opening its first restaurant in the North East next week.
Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana is set open its doors in Durham on December 6.
Boasting 120 covers across two floors, the company has transformed the former Superdry store on Silver Street into an urban dining spot.
Rudy’s follows the authentic Neapolitan tradition of pizza making, serving classic recipes such as Marinara, Margherita and Calabrese – all originating from Naples, the birthplace of pizza.
Rudy’s dough is made fresh daily with Caputo ‘00’ flour, alongside ingredients imported from Naples including San Marzano tomatoes and Fior di Latte mozzarella.
Neal Bates from Rudy’s Durham said: “The team is really excited to be opening our first location in the North East.
“A friendly city with UNESCO Heritage sites, Durham has everything on its doorstep, and we look forward to being part of the neighbourhood – serving the classic Neapolitan pizzas right in the city centre.”
Alongside its classic and authentic dishes, Rudy’s Durham is also serving up three new signature specials.
First up, Triple Pepperoni, inspired by Rudy’s travel to New York, this popular pizza is topped with San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte, Napoli pepperoni, British pepperoni, Calabrian pepperoni, Stracciatella and chili honey.
With festive season now upon us, Rudy’s Durham will launch with the winter specials gracing the menu.
Zucca (suitable for vegetarians) is created by Rudy’s own staff member, Francesco Aiello who originates from Palermo, Sicily.
The unique pizza uses pumpkin cream as its base, topped with fior di latte, goats cheese, roasted garlic chestnut mushrooms, finished with a sprinkle of toasted pumpkin seeds and chilli flakes.

Another special for the season is Guanciale & Pear; a tribute to award-winning Italian pizzaioli, Teresa Iori, who founded the famous Naples pizzeria, le Figlie di Iorio.
The white pizza is topped with fior di latte, gorgonzola, guanciale (cured pork cheek) and fresh pears, sprinkled with toasted walnuts and fresh thyme.
The opening times are Wednesday to Thursday from 12pm until 9.30pm, Friday to Saturday from 12pm until 10pm, and Sunday from 12pm until 9.30pm.
