The weather is set to be cooler today with rain and frost expected at different times across the North East.

Darlington residents can expect cloudy start to the day with a band of rain drifting southwards across the region according to the Met Office.

The forecaster predicts this rain will clearing during the morning, brightening from the north with sunny spells developing later.

It said there will be long clear spells overnight, with chilling winds and the potential for rural frosts inland.

Adding to this, the Met Office said residents can expect a maximum temperature of 13 °C today, as well as a low of 0 °C tonight.
