A North Yorkshire beach has been left covered in dead marine life after another wave of marine die-off.

Saltburn Beach has been covered in dead starfish and other small marine life in another wave of marine deaths.

Paul Waugh, from Brotton, walks along the beach regularly and has "never seen anything like it".

This comes months after a porpoise was washed up dead on the same beach.

Mr Waugh was shocked by the range of dead sea life that he found on his regular walk along the beach.

Mr Waugh described walking over the shells on the way to the pier as like a "gravel drive".

He said: "I went on the beach at Saltburn this morning to get a pic of the sea coal with the pier but when I got closer there were dead starfish, crabs, fish and hundreds of razor shells scattered all over.

"I’ve never seen so many dead starfish and the razor shells it was like walking down a gravel drive, just heart breaking.

"I’ve walked this beach many many times I’ve never seen anything like this before it’s not a natural thing it’s got to be contamination of the sea.

"The funny thing was the seagulls were not picking at the fish or the other birds picking either.. are they trying to say something?"
