A man will be appearing at Teesside Crown Court next month (November 1) after being charged with arson following a house fire.

This comes after a man was charged with arson with intent to endanger life after a report of a house fire on Dalcross Court, Hemlington, around 7.15am on Monday (October 2).

John Michael Ginty, 33, of Hemlington, remains in custody after his hearing at Teesside Magistrates' Court was adjourned today (October 4).

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "A 33-year-old man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life after a report of a house fire on Dalcross Court, Hemlington, around 7.15am on Monday 2nd October.

"The man will appear at Teesside Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 4th October."

This comes after a house fire on Dalcross Court, Hemlington, at around 7.15am on Monday (September 2).

Cleveland Police confirmed they were called to the fire and all residents were safely evacuated while emergency services worked at the scene.

A Cleveland Fire Brigade (CFB) spokesperson said three fire appliances from Thornaby and Coulby Newham attended the scene.

They reported that the fire caused 80 per cent fire, heat and smoke damage to the property and that all occupants had been accounted for.

The blaze was brought under control by CFB just before 9.15 am.

In a statement, a Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to a house fire on Dalcross Court, Hemlington just before 7.15am.

"Occupants of the address and neighbouring properties were safely evacuated so emergency services could deal with the situation.
