A bike that has been dumped in the river in a popular Darlington park will remain there until the water levels reduce, the council have confirmed.
Images have circulated appearing to show what looks like a motorbike at the bottom of the River Skerne that runs through South Park in Darlington.
A concerned resident took to Facebook to post a series of images of the bike that is located at the centre of the river and has been there for an unknown period.

Commenters on the post were quick to point out the make of the bike, claiming it is a Yamaha MT125 as they asked if anyone is missing that make of motorbike.
Others said the site is a “shame” as they questioned how the bike could have ended up there.

The Northern Echo contacted Darlington Borough Council for a comment, who confirmed they are aware of the bike but it will remain there for the time being.
A spokesperson said: “Our parks team are aware of this, but due to the heavy rain recently the water level is quite high so will need to wait until that drops before it can be dealt with.”
