It seems Newcastle is the place to be as it has been named the best city in the UK for its overall vibe, sense of style and food.

The popular Tyne and Wear destination also ranked in second place for the best city in the UK for its music scene, according to research by global tech brand HONOR.

A quirky survey asked 2,000 residents in the UK's largest cities to rate the different “vibes” in their area, including the above topics.

The study of 100 residents in each of the 20 locations around the nation was commissioned by the company to mark the launch of its new HONOR 90 smartphone series.

It comes as the product is all about helping users celebrate individuality and encouraging them to “Share Their Vibe” with the world.

The overall findings of the study found that 84% enjoy living in or near a city, with the main reasons being because of their good shops (38%), good restaurants (36%) and there’s always something to do (33%).

Meanwhile, 67% would recommend the city they live in to a friend or loved one who is looking for somewhere new to live.

Bond Zhang, CEO at HONOR UK, said: "Newcastle truly has vibes worth sharing and it’s clear why.
