A Darlington man has been named and fined after he was caught speeding while driving on a busy motorway.

Michael Peter Hughes, 68 of Blackwell Grove, Darlington had his case heard before Bath Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 19.

He was caught speeding southbound down the M5 motorway and exceeded the limit by 15mph.

Hughes was caught travelling at 85mph on a 70mph road.

He was found guilty through a single justice procedure and was fined £72 for the offence.

Hughes was also made to pay £28 to victim services and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
