Treehouses with stunning views and luxurious waterside lodges are on offer at a new rural retreat launching this month.

Nestled in the County Durham countryside and just a short drive from the A19, farmers Claire and Hugh Carter have created a stunning escape with a selection of lodges and treehouses for guests to stay.

The pair bought Red Hurworth Farm, near Wingate, in 2016 and soon leased out the farm’s bungalow as a holiday let receiving their first booking within 72 hours. The pair have then spent the last few years developing their idea of a getaway haven, named ‘Nest’.

Each treehouse and lodge is meticulously designed to fit into the environment with sedum roofs on the lodges blending them into their natural habitat and chic interiors.

Claire Carter said: “We wanted to create self-catered lodges and treehouses that allowed guests to enjoy the views, wildlife and peace of Red Hurworth farm without having to compromise on luxuries.

“We’ve paid meticulous attention to every detail in the design from external design features to the interiors in each lodge or treehouse. Our focus was to create hidden gems nestled in nature for couples seeking unforgettable stays.”

Each of the accommodations offer a private hot tub and stunning views across the countryside with the waterside lodges overlooking Hurworth Burn Reservoir.

There are five places to stay with the majority being one-bedroomed and ‘The Covey’ offering five bedrooms and a children’s play area for larger parties.

Claire’s husband Hugh added: “The treehouses overlook the pond and look far into the fields as they are elevated 3m off the ground. We spent a lot of time designing these to ensure they were the perfect height to take in the views.
