A new Darlington dessert and deli bar will be coming to Darlington Market next month.

The Bumble Crumble will be opening in Darlington Market in a catering unit on West Row, in mid-June.

The business is owned by Kerry Greenbury, 47, from Thornaby, and partner Tommy Murphy, 46, who have described their venture as a "tearoom with a twist."

They claimed the unit will be the North East's "first artisan crumble bar."

Ms Greenbury said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining the market and we want to offer something both nostalgic but modern and different with the best service.

“Sustainability is top on our priority list, and this includes offering free bagged coffee grinds for customers to use as fertiliser on their gardens and ensure nothing is wasted and re-used where possible.”

The eatery will themed around the industrial period, and will serve a wide range of loose-leaf teas.

Options will include English Breakfast and Earl Grey, Cardamon Chai, Matcha, as well as barista coffee direct from Caffe Vinci.

The crumble bar will tout a range of seasonal fruit crumbles with unlimited custard (ice cream and frozen custard will be available during warmer months).

Customers will be able to build their own crumble and include toppings such as edible flowers, meringue and honeycomb.

They will be able to choose from peach and prosecco fillings, paired with a hob nob crumble.

The unit will also provide doorstep sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and salads.

The business will have a space for drop-in events being held by local community organisations such as Harbour, and will also host small workshops ranging from children's Build A Bear parties to crumble making lessons.

The bar will be open 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm Sunday.
