The store will also have an “experimental space” which the company says will allow customers to experience workshops, talks and events.

Up until now Rowen has traded purely online but have invested in the Metrocentre as their first physical location.

Ben Cox from Sovereign Centros, which operates the Metrocentre, said: “We are delighted that Rowen Homes have chosen Metrocentre for their first ever physical store. It is great to support the growth of an award winning North East business.

“They have a strong digital presence which will be complemented by a fantastic new flagship store in Platinum Mall.  We are confident their plans for a new experiential concept will be a popular addition to Metrocentre.”

It comes just two weeks after premium Italian footwear retailer Moda In Pelle also announced plans to open in the Metrocentre’s Platinum Mall this spring, taking over the former Paperchase unit.

Zara, Flannels, Sports Direct and Everlast Gym will also be opening flagship stores at the centre this Autumn.

Mr Cox added: “The introduction of Rowen Homes follows the recent opening of female fashion brand Vanilla, whilst Zara, Flannels, Sports Direct and Everlast Gym will be opening flagship stores in the centre this Autumn.

“This level of investment is set to continue with a number of large-scale developments and exciting announcements to be released in coming months.”
