Speaking on the renovations, Craig Saunders, general manager at Total Fitness Teesside, said he was excited to bring the news of its completion to the community.

He said: “We’re excited to announce the completion of our Teesside refurbishment to our members and the local community.

“We’ve always been passionate about ensuring our members have a space to thrive and maximise their full potential, and the investment in new kit, and the layout and experience within the club enables us to provide a workout area that offers variety and support to our members as they take their fitness journeys further, whether that be on their own or as a family.”

Adding to this, the main floor layout has been redesigned to maximise space for workouts, and is complete with an extensive range of new equipment, including power racks, prowler track, glute bridge machine and a range of watt bikes.

Work has also finished revamping the original spin studio with new Life Fitness Bikes, which the gym says will allow its members to reach "their goals in an explosive new way."

With these new bikes, TFT have said they can now provide 'Coach by Colour' spin classes which will provide gym-goers with real-time feedback and the ability to personalise their workout intensity.

They haved also introduced supervised children’s classes, exclusive to its Thornaby club.

As part of the new timetable, 60-minute classes are separated into three age ranges: Mini’s (ages 2-3), Aces (ages 4-7 and 8-10), and Switch (ages 8-10 and 11-14), available seven days a week.

Adding to TFT's other renovations, the health club's cafe has also been refitted.
