A Darlington musician has shot a music video locally to accompany her single, Homemade Show.

Hayley McKay’s new single was co-written by Leeds-based band, The Dunwells, and is inspired by Hayley’s memories growing up and the parties her family would have at home.

Hayley wanted to record a fun, upbeat song to get people dancing and remind them of carefree times.

Filmed at her home in Heighington, near Darlington, Hayley wanted to create a party atmosphere and invited some of her young singing students to get involved in the video.

Hayley said: “I’ve got great memories of singing and dancing at home with my mum and dad and getting the karaoke machine out and singing into the mirror and I wanted to recreate that.

“It’s a song that I really hope will make people happy when they hear it.

“It was great to get the kids involved and we just had a really great time. There were lots of laughs and we had balloons and confetti for the party atmosphere.

“Some of the kids were students and some were family and they really enjoyed it so it was just a good laugh.

“I’ve written a couple of other songs with The Dunwells too, this one came together really quickly though.”

The singer song-writer is known in the town as being the blonde songstress who has given us a steady supply of her music over the last few years, and the pandemic certainly didn’t slow her down.

Hayley will be performing at Café Lilli in Norton on Sunday, March 19, Northern Kin Festival on Sunday, April 30, and Into The Fields Festival in Blyth on Friday, May 28.
