A major retailer has announced the opening of a new store in a North East town, creating dozens of jobs in the area.

Lidl has confirmed a new supermarket will be opening on the High Street in Norton on Thursday, February 9 at 8am.

The store is set to create around 40 jobs for the local community and new starters will be among the highest paid in the supermarket sector following a wage increase last October.

Its famous in-store bakery is set to feature in the store, along with customer toilets with baby changing facilities and ample car parking for cars and bicycles.

The store will be open between 8am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

From the first week, customers will be reportedly able to find exclusive deals and offers in the Middle of Lidl.
