A woman has been taken to hospital and a man has been arrested after a crash between two vehicles last week.

On Friday (December 2), emergency services responded to reports of a crash between two cars at 8:40pm on the A66 Westbound, which left a 35-year-old man and 44-year-old woman with injuries.

The crash, which involved a silver Vauxhall Movano and a white Fiat 500, happened near Teesside Retail Park.

The crash left the woman with a facial injury and the man with a fractured hand.

The pair were both taken to University Hospital of North Tees for treatment, before the man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

In a statement today, a Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "The collision happened near Teesside Retail Park, involving a silver Vauxhall Movano and a white Fiat 500.

"A 35-year-old man driving the Movano suffered a fracture to his hand and a 44-year-old woman driving the Fiat 500 suffered a facial injury. Both were taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for treatment.

"The 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs."

Meanwhile, police are now appealing for any witnesses with information regarding the crash or the driving of the Vauxhall Movano to come forward.

The have asked anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting incident number 217762.
