A teenager who died in a crash in Redcar in the early hours of Wednesday (October 12) morning has been named by police as Alfie Rowe.

Alfie, who was just 16-years-old, was pronounced dead the scene of a collision on Cotswold Drive in Redcar on Wednesday.

His heartbroken family have paid tribute to their “much loved son and grandson”, saying he “will be sorely missed by all of his family.”

Cleveland Police have said their thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Emergency services were called to a report of two males on a motorcycle who had seemingly collided with a garden wall on Cotswold Drive just after midnight on Wednesday morning.

The 16-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ambulance crews also attended the scene and the other rider, aged 18, was taken to James Cook University Hospital.

The 18-year-old suffered significant head injuries, and is currently receiving treatment in hospital where he is said to remain in a critical condition.

Police are currently appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist their enquiries.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage or CCTV to contact them on 101 quoting 182917.”
