Bus companies in the region have revealed whether their services will be running as normal on Monday on the day of the Queen’s funeral.

Many businesses have chosen to close for the day in a mark of respect to the late monarch, but some essential services are continuing to run.

Public transport will still be running with extra services to and from London in place to allow mourners to reach the capital.

But in the North East services are set to be running at a reduced capacity.

Here are each of the region’s operators’ plans for Monday September 19.

Arriva North East

Arriva have announced that their busses will be running but on the Sunday timetable, as normal on bank holidays.

In a statement on Twitter Arriva North East said: “If you are planning to travel outside of London, our usual timetables will operate except for on the 19th September when we will operate a Sunday Service”

Go North East

A statement on the Go North East website read: “Go North East will be operating a Sunday service on Monday September 19, 2022, the Public Holiday for the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”

Stagecoach North East

Stagecoach North East will also be running a Sunday service on the day of the Queen’s funeral.

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: “With the declaration of a Bank Holiday for the State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen on Monday 19 September 2022, customers are advised that all Stagecoach routes will operate to Sunday timetables.”

Tyne and Wear Metro

Metro services will be running to a normal weekday timetable on Monday, with the exception of the extra peak services which run during weekday rush hours.

The network has also said it will hold a two minute silence at 11.55am following the funeral.

During the two minute silence trains will wait in stations, any trains between stations will continue to travel to the next station.
