A Peaky Blinders star was seen at Beamish Museum in County Durham, prompting excitement among visitors.

Sophie Rundle, who plays Ada Thorne in the hit series, appeared at the museum on Tuesday (September 6).

The actress, who is best known for her role on the period drama series, has also appeared in Gentleman Jack and Episodes.

Sophie, who is used to heading back to the 1920s to play Tommy Shelby's sister, was pictured on the cobbles in front of the Annfield Plain Industrial Co-op at Beamish in the 1900s town area of the popular living-museum.

A Beamish Museum spokesperson said: “We were thrilled to welcome Sophie Rundle to the museum today. Sophie played Ada Thorne in the hit BBC drama Peaky Blinders!”

The television star is clearly popular in the North East as the Facebook post had 353 comments saying she is a “fab actress” and “absolutely brilliant” and the post was hared 130 times.

The museum is currently continuing work on expanding its 1950s town, with plans to recreate Sunderland's Grand Cinema.

The latest additions to Beamish are not set to be finished until next year, so Sophie will have to come back to the North East to see the developments.
