Newcastle Airport has responded after a major airline axed four weekly flights from the North East destination.
Loganair has announced it is cancelling all of its flights from Newquay airport affecting four weekly flights from Newcastle and weekly flight from Teesside Airport.
It comes after an apparent disagreement between the airline and Newquay airport which has seen all Newcastle to Newquay flights cancelled from November 2022 to March 2023.

A Newcastle Airport spokesperson told The Northern Echo: “We have a strong working relationship with Loganair who fly to a number of destinations in the UK and overseas from Newcastle International Airport.
“The airline will continue flying to Newquay until the end of October 2022 and will return in March 2023 for the summer season.
“North East passengers can still access the South West of England throughout winter with year-round Loganair flights to Exeter.”
Loganair says it has contacted all its customers with winter bookings on the affected routes to offer a change of travel date or refunds.

It comes as a blow for the major airport which has announced swathes of new destinations in recent months.
Most recently easyJet announced the return of flights to Geneva this winter, and Dubai-based airline Emirates revealed it would be adding a fifth weekly service to the popular UAE city destination.
LoganAir announced the cancellations over the weekend blaming Newquay airport.
In a statement, the airline said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve taken the decision to withdraw our entire winter Newquay programme and to curtail our Summer 2023 plans too.
"Despite all of the challenges that the pandemic has delivered, we’ve worked incredibly hard over the last two years to build up our presence at Cornwall Airport Newquay.

“We’re most disappointed that short-sighted and short-term decisions by the airport’s management to incentivise unsustainable operations by other airlines leave no prospect of winter flights remaining viable, particularly against a backdrop of high fuel prices and rising inflation.
“In the meantime, we’ll be directing our efforts towards other UK regional airports such as Southampton, Exeter and Cardiff, where airport managements recognise and appreciate the enormous value that year-round, sustainable regional air services can bring to their communities and local economies.”
