Police have seized a cannabis grow in a County Durham village following a tip off from a member of the public.
Officers from Durham Police’s Shildon and Sedgefield neighbourhood teams raided properties in Alexandra Street, Shildon, where cannabis grow was found.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “The address contained professional cannabis grow set up.
“Being particularly dangerous as it was connected directly to the external electricity supply meaning we had to call the experts to make the property safe before entering.”

The spokesperson added news of cannabis grow seizures often attracted a number of comments, adding: “There are lots of reasons why we target cannabis grows, not limited to”.
These are: They are usually linked to organised and international crime, are directly linked to the exploitation of vulnerable people and are a huge fire risk – and are illegal.
