A MAN is due to appear in court, charged with possession of a knife in a town centre. 

Hassan Farah, of Vulcan Way, Thornaby will appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court after the incident in the early hours of Sunday. 

The 31-year-old has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and section 18 wounding. It follows an incident on Yarm High Street outside The Keys nightclub.

A man was taken to James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough, with “serious” injuries. Cleveland Police and three crews from the North East Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. 

Police officers erected a cordon outside the venue, and crime scene investigators worked throughout Sunday morning collecting evidence. 

A man and woman have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
