DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a man was assaulted by a large group of males while walking through an alleyway in Middlesbrough. 

The 43-year-old victim was at the rear of Somerset Street at around 6.50pm on May 1 when six or seven young males attacked him with metal poles, causing him to fall to the ground and leaving him with injuries to his head and hand.

The victim was treated at James Cook University Hospital, then released.

Unfortunately there are no descriptions of the suspects currently, however, officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, including dash cam or CCTV, that could assist on-going enquiries, to get in touch.
