A NORTH EAST Lottery player is in for a bank holiday in a million after Camelot confirmed today that a winning million-pound Lottery ticket was bought in the region.

Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, says it it has received a claim for the £1,000,000 EuroMillions European Millionaire Maker prize from a ticket bought in North Tyneside for the special EuroMillions draw on January 21 this year.

EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker guarantees to create a millionaire in every draw, but the special event draw on Friday January 21 saw 100 guaranteed millionaires made across, with 25 won by ticket-holders in the UK.

As with all major prizes, the claim from North Tyneside will now go through the process of validation.

This includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions are adhered to and the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.

Subject to validation, the prize will then be paid at an appointment with one of Camelot’s Winners’ Advisers.

Once the ticket has been validated and paid, the ticket-holder will then decide whether or not to go public and share their news.

There will be no information on whether they are an individual or syndicate winner, or where the ticket was purchased, unless the ticket-holder decides to go public.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “What amazing news for this lucky ticket-holder who has claimed their prize - just in time for a Bank Holiday weekend.

"We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process.

“It was an amazing night for UK EuroMillions players back on January 21, with 25 UK millionaires made.

"We now have 23 of these prizes claimed from this draw that were won by UK players - that’s 23 ticket-holders who are new millionaires - and we’re urging all EuroMillions players to check their tickets so that we can pay out these last two remaining unclaimed prizes.”

The two remaining unclaimed prizes from the special EuroMillions draw on 21 January 2022 are from tickets bought in Doncaster and the Hinckley & Bosworth District.

Andy continued: “We’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or at national-lottery.co.uk."

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk.
