A BUSINESS set up by a teenage entrepreneur in his bedroom during lockdown is going from strength to strength.

Harvey Moss, 14, from Leyburn started his company, called Melt ‘n’ Soak, during the lockdown in 2021 when he began creating reed fragrance diffusers at home.

Given to family and friends as gifts at first, they proved to be incredibly popular and since then, the Wensleydale School pupil has seen demand for his products surge.

With three prestigious stockists selling his range, along with his own website, sales are growing for the handmade diffusers which come in a range of different fragrances including coconut and mango, dark honey and tobacco, floral breeze and nectarine and lemon blossom, all created by Harvey, who also designed all the packaging.

Harvey has also just launched his first-ever Christmas range which boasts three festive scents and hopes to diversify into other fragranced products in the near future having just secured a license to create soaps.

And if running his own business wasn’t enough to keep the teen busy, Harvey also works at The Wensleydale Heifer as part of the hotel’s front of house team. He previously worked in the kitchen alongside his father Graeme, who is a chef.

The hotel also uses the diffusers throughout its public spaces and guests have enjoyed the scents so much, the Heifer now stocks the scents for visitors to buy and take home.

Harvey said: “I’m used to being busy and like to work hard. I was really bored during lockdown as I couldn’t be working at the Heifer, so I decided to set up a business and Melt ‘n’ Soak was born.

“I really enjoy the whole process of coming up with new fragrance combinations and designing the products from scratch.”

Wensleydale Heifer owner David Moss, no relation to Harvey, said: “We’ve always been struck by Harvey’s really strong work ethic in the kitchen and when he told us about his business, we wanted to support him however we could.

“We’re all about quality here and his products are of really high quality, so we were happy to not only use them around the hotel, but to stock them too as so many people were asking about them. Harvey’s part of the Heifer family and we’re really proud of his success.”

As well as being available for sale online (meltnsoak.godaddysites.com) and at the Wensleydale Heifer, Melt ‘n’ Soak products are also stocked at Russell Home Interiors in Leyburn and the Alchemist’s Cottage in Hawes.
