A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Darlington.
Police were called to an address in Glaisdale Court on Sunday following reports that a woman was critically ill.
She was found unresponsive by officers who attended the house after the incident was reported at about 4.45am.
The woman, who was in her thirties, was taken to hospital but later died, police have confirmed.
A 31-year-old man was arrested and is in police custody.
A spokeswoman for Durham Police said: "Police were called at 4.45am yesterday (Sunday) to a property in Glaisdale Court, Darlington, following reports that a woman was critically ill.
"Officers attended and found a woman in her thirties who was unresponsive. She was taken to hospital but sadly died a short time later.
"A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody."
