A 72-YEAR-OLD woman who died following a serious incident in Darlington this weekend has been named by police.
Susan Ward collapsed at her home in Yarm Road on Saturday evening following a suspected medical episode. It is understood she fell ill at the same time that a 64-year-old man was stabbed and seriously injured at the house.
The man was taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where he remains in a stable condition.
Adam Burnside, of Garrick Court, Darlington, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with the attempted murder of the man.
The 45-year-old did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on February 4.
A Durham Police spokeswoman confirmed that their investigation into the incidentremain ongoing.
